Horsham Fire Station Update
Construction is progressing at a pace at Horsham Fire Station, steelwork commenced earlier this month for the main Fire Station Building and you can start to see the scale of the scheme coming to life.
HNW Architects were commissioned to prepare development proposals for a new Fire Station and Training Centre in Horsham for West Sussex County Council. In addition to the main building, the scheme features a Live Fire facility (carbonaceous, class A), a Breathing Apparatus Training Building, a Cold Smoke Tower, as well as separate Garages for training appliances.
The design and the flow through the main building have been carefully considered and developed with key stakeholders, as West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service strive to adopt best practice to ensure their fire-fighters’ health and wellbeing. National and European research papers on the impact of prolonged exposure to contaminants have changed the perception of the working environment of firefighters, putting their health as the top priority through the implementation of specific behavioural models and design strategies. Horsham Fire Station & Training Centre will deliver transformational improvements for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, not only for the Horsham area but for all WSFRS staff.
