Waterside Drive, Elmbridge – Start on Site

Waterside Drive – Start on Site

July 2016

Waterside Drive is a £14million project to provide a new Sports Hub for Elmbridge Borough Council, to be constructed by Willmott Dixon.

HNW have developed and detailed proposals for the new central Pavilion, the Piling mat for which is due to commence within the next month.

Prior to that the site needs to be cleared with the soil striped, stockpiled and remediated allowing the ground gas to vent. There will be a noticeable aroma when during this remediation process, to mitigate this a ‘Perfume’ will be pumped in to the air, the fragrance of which was selected by public vote during pre-start consultation.

Due to the former heavily contaminated uses on the site, substantial remediation and clean-up works have been taking place. A new Permeable Reactive Barrier (PRB) installed to protect the adjacent River Thames and neighbouring properties from potential contaminated groundwater runoff and a Virtual Curtain system (VC) installed to break the migration path of ground gasses.
