Site Progress: New Construction Trades Centre, City College Brighton & Hove
The construction of the new £9million 2,900m² 3-storey Construction Trades Centre continues at City College Brighton & Hove‘s East Campus. The concrete frame is completed as well as the steelwork and roof cladding finished. Next, the windows are going to be fitted.
The building will provide the College with a modern teaching environment that will facilitate learning of various construction trades including plumbing, electrical engineering, carpentry and brick laying. In addition the proposals comprise of general teaching accommodation along with a large multi-purpose display space which can house various ongoing student / college projects.
The new building is to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’ and utilises technologies such as rainwater harvesting and photovoltaics. Architectural services were sought from HNW from concept design through to practical completion through a Design and Build Contract with Osborne, the Main Contractor for the construction phase. Due for completion in March 2017.
