Croft Hall Pavilion x

The Burgess Hill School For Girls is located in a Conservation Area in rural West Sussex.

Following the completion of our 9 classroom nursery and infant’s school building, HNW were invited to design an extension to the existing Croft Hall building as the next phase of development in the HNW prepared School campus masterplan.

The project was sensitively designed to reflect the characteristics of the area in terms of scale, density, colour and materials. The result is an inviting, public facing pavilion style extension and refurbishment to the existing school hall in this sensitive setting and steeply sloping site that was designed to create a new entrance foyer/ reception space for school events.

The main space is intended to be as flexible as possible in its uses, acting as a secondary teaching/ performance space for drama students. The refurbishments include additional music rooms as well as a kitchen and WC’s to support the new building.

HNW were appointed as Architect, Lead Design Consultant and Contract Administrator, delivering the scheme as a traditionally procured building contract.
