New Business Units, Donnington – Planning Approval
Full Planning Consent was granted for 5no. business units across two 2-storey buildings at Donnington Park Business Park, Chichester. The units have been designed to be of similar nature in terms of materiality, scale and massing as the pre-existing business units already situated at Donnington Park.
The buildings make use of an undervalued and unused piece of land that has been earmarked for development in the latest Chichester Local Plan. The sites location and transport links make it an excellent employment opportunity that will benefit both the local community and economy.
An important factor in the design development of the project was flexibility, with a proposed building use class as B1, B2, D1, A1 or A2. It was therefore vital that the business units has the capability to adapt depending on the end user. This flexibility can be seen in the buildings glazing system allowing for the potential conversion of the mezzanine into office space or ancillary storage. Throughout the design development, several feasibility studies were undertaken investigating such factors as parking amounts, orientation and building massing and scale.
