HNW have recently completed the design and fit-out of three new state of the art Laboratory facilities at the National Oceanography Centre for the University of Southampton.
Adapting these existing spaces to accommodate the requirements for these new STEM facilities (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) involved detailed engagement and discussions with user groups whereby various options were appraised to ensure the number of students could be accommodated and a new strategy for storage was created.
A bespoke storage and roller racking system was developed to maximise the storage of samples, specimens and equipment along with complex arrangements for benching and the sophisticated Audio/Visual equipment within the project / prep areas.
The project was via HNW’s continued involvement of the University of Southampton Framework and was constructed by contractor Trios. Both HNW and the Trios Group are now working with the University of Southampton and NOC to develop additional lab facilities at the site.
