Millais School – Horsham: Completion of New Teaching Block
The first Phase of HNW’s campus strategy at Millais School in Horsham has been completed.
This first major phase comprises a new build 3 storey block facilitating maths, modern foreign languages, design & technology, art and textiles over 3,900sqm, a courtyard infill between existing buildings to provide new Music Classrooms and Studios and a new Energy Centre elsewhere on the site to enable future works.
This Design & Build Project with contractor Willmott Dixon involves a multiple phase solution encompassed within the creation of an overall ‘campus vision’, reviewing the secondary school’s existing estate and assessing the type and quantum of accommodation required for a 1500 place school.
The works are being carried out in 2 main phases over 26 months, with a construction value of £15m. The demolition of existing buildings is currently taking place to enable Phase 2 to start on site: a new 1,600sqm coherent student / staff / visitors entrance, providing a clear internal circulation strategy and purpose built teaching accommodation, linking to a new external landscaped central area connecting and entire campus together for the first time.
