Hopkins Building – Peter Symonds Sixth Form College
Completed photos of HNW’s latest building at Peter Symonds College in Winchester: a new multi-purpose student study space and classrooms set alongside our previous Learning Resource Centre building.
This dramatic pavilion type structure provides the College with flexible accommodation to suit current and future teaching needs. The building complements the adjacent Learning Research Centre by providing individual study spaces and IT spaces for student learning.
The building’s large overhanging roof connects the internal accommodation to the external Quadrant landscaping, whilst also provides shelter for students waiting for the college buses. The building, clad in Western Red Cedar and glass, achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
This use of carefully selected natural materials and glass allows the building to softly respect it’s setting alongside the Conservation area.
Thanks to Amiri Construction for the original photos of this project.
