Start On Site: New Construction Trades Centre, City College Brighton & Hove
The construction of the new £9million 2,900m² 3-storey Construction Trades Centre is now underway at City College Brighton & Hove‘s East Campus. The existing buildings have now been demolished and the crane base, underground drainage and foundations are currently being constructed.
The building will provide the College with a modern teaching environment that will facilitate learning of various construction trades including plumbing, electrical engineering, carpentry and brick laying. In addition the proposals comprise of general teaching accommodation along with a large multi-purpose display space which can house various ongoing student / college projects.
The new building is to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’ and utilises technologies such as rainwater harvesting and photovoltaics. Architectural services were sought from HNW from concept design through to practical completion through a Design and Build Contract, and have been recently novated to the Osborne, the Main Contractor for the construction phase. Due for completion in March 2017.
