Collyer’s ‘DigiHub’

A little project update!

Whilst some projects stopped/stalled earlier this year with Covid19 impacting the industry, some actually started on site and defied the odds by managing to make progress on an empty College site!

The new “DigiHub” for The College of Richard Collyer (6th Form College) was funded by the DfE following a bid for T-Level funding. HNW (Roger and Ellie) assisted the College with their application for the funding and then designed and carried out the works on site alongside W.Stirland as contractor. The project only had a 12 week contract construction programme.

The DigiHub is a new specialist teaching space for the College to deliver the brand new T-Level qualification from, on a very tight budget intended to work like a traditional ICT suite from a teaching perspective but look more ‘grown up’ and provide flexibility for individual or industry supported work also. The glass walls can be opened on both sides and all the furniture is removable meaning the former undercroft space can also now be used as a Function and Display space when not used for teaching, accessed across the College campus quads.

This is the first of numerous phases of work across the College campus in a masterplan designed by HNW to either provide additional teaching accommodation or improve the offer currently available to students on site. The College is currently awaiting a government funding outcome for a new 10 classroom block as the next phase of the masterplan.
