South Street Lancing - planning approved!

We are delighted that our South Street project in Lancing recently received a unanimous planning approval! This exciting project will transform a tight little used car park site into new mews homes for local vulnerable families in need.
The seven, one and two bedroom, new homes for Adur District Council will provide a safe, comfortable and supportive environment for those without a place to stay. Our innovative and sensitive design will regenerate this vacant constrained hinterland site, creating a neighbourly and welcoming setting for families to thrive.
The highly sustainable homes seek to adopt off site manufacturing, prefabrication, and modern methods of construction to assist with speed of construction, minimise waste, reduce disruption and ensure high levels of quality.
The designs reflect and respond positively to the local vernacular and surrounding context. Natural materials have been chosen to withstand the site’s seaside environment and selected to age gracefully. Our palette includes textured red brick, composite windows, coated metalwork, and zinc roofs, creating a simple yet robust aesthetic.
The landscape designs prioritise the retention of existing trees and introduction of native planting to enhance the site’s ecological and biodiversity. Each home has its own private garden alongside shared amenity space. Parking spaces with electrical charging points are provided for new residents as well as new parking spaces for neighbouring properties, secure cycle parking is also provided to encourage sustainable travel.

HNW have worked collaboratively and diligently to offer a viable solution to a tricky site, which doesn't just address the logistical, technical and financial challenges of backland development but also delivers an unquestionably attractive scheme.

This is an incredibly exciting project that will see a car park that is under-used and therefore largely redundant transformed into accommodation for families who desperately need high-quality housing. These houses will mean local families who would otherwise be homeless will have roofs over their heads while they look for a permanent place to live. There is an increasing demand for council housing in the district and we're looking at innovative solutions like this to meet the needs of our community.
The project is currently out to tender and we are looking forward to a start on site in the coming months.
