Inspiring the next generation
It was very rewarding to show, share and explain the exciting site progress on our Pelham Street project (also known as The Blockhouse), in the heart of Brighton, with architecture students from the University of Brighton last week.
As active members of the RIBA Mentoring Scheme, we are delighted to be spending several months regularly engaging with undergraduate and post graduate students as part of our collaboration with both the University of Brighton and University of Portsmouth.
We give very tangible and hands on experience, taking students to visit our recently completed projects and also live construction sites. The students are better able to understand the latter stages of the design process, the challenges and realities that the construction phase can bring, and how collaborating successfully with other consultants and the contractor will help deliver quality for our clients.

It is also an important time of year for younger students who are actively considering their future career paths. We’ve been attending a number of career fairs and offering work experience places to share impartial guidance and knowledge to an array of secondary school and further education students – this morning we were at BHASVIC’s Future Fair 2024 and were on hand to discuss a career in Architecture with a number of enthusiastic 6th form students.
It’s always refreshing to see the exceptional talent, enthusiasm and potential that exists – our future is in safe hands! We wish all students the very best of luck in their upcoming deadlines.

The project on Pelham Street is currently handing over in phases and delivers 135 new Build to Rent (BTR) high quality and sustainably designed new homes for Osborne Developments in the heart of Brighton. Watch this space as we’ll be sharing some exciting imagery of the completed project soon!
